The actress, dramatist and director Vivetta Lainioti teaches

The Acting & Theater Course

It is aimed at those who want to do amateur theater or those who want to take their first steps in it.

Although this department is aimed at amateurs, we have noticed that some of our students make the decision to start their professional training on Theater in Greece or abroad. In fact, the careful work, the preparation and the rehearsals of the performance as well as the deep study of monologues greatly benefits the students who decide to take the exams in the drama schools of their choice.

OBJECTIVE OF THE COURSE

Acting & theater classes for amateurs aim to entertain and improve social skills in a "safe" and controlled environment through theatrical games and exercises. As the academic year progresses, all members learn and are slowly led into improvisations, role-playing and rehearsals which, if they wish, may lead to a performance in a large professional and central theater in Zurich but also in Switzerland in general and not only !

Is it is important to emphasize that the exercises taught in this course do not differ in any way from those taught in drama schools. There are no exercises for amateurs and professionals in the EPI SKINIS School!

But what everyone will get out of this process depends -we believe- mainly on what they are willing to give it. If he is willing to explore, to dare to leave the safety of the familiar for a while, to trust his teammate and the team, to listen, to open up, to see things - others and himself - with a slightly different look, and has the courage to "expose" then he will be rewarded with everything the theater has to give him.And believe us, it's worth it more than ever...

The lesson  is divided into three teaching cycles

so that all members can integrate into the group more easily.

  The  A cycle will include

  • Familiarity Exercises

  • Trust Exercises

  • Improvisation exercises

  • Theatrical game

 The  B' cycle will include

  • How do I build a role?

  • How do I create a role resume?

  • Acting methods such as Stanislavsky, Grotesque etc.

  • Study of monologues and one-act plays

  •  The cycle will include

  • Orthophonic and Phonics exercises

  • Physical Theater approach with a simple contact method.

Course Benefits

  • Self confidence: By presenting ourselves in front of others, we begin to trust our ideas and abilities. Exposure in front of the group helps us to recognize, understand and accept aspects of our character!

  • Imagination:The basic condition for doing theater. Without walls, defenses and obstacles we leave ourselves to our inner imagination! After all, as   Einstein  said "Imagination is more important than knowledge!"

  • Empathy:By playing roles, putting ourselves in other people's shoes, trying to experience different situations, foreign to us, a new world opens up to us. It increases understanding and empathy for others through texts.. It makes us see things from a different perspective.. and thus we become better people!

  • Cooperation:Theater combines the creative ideas and skills of all those involved in it. This collaborative process includes brainstorming, discussion, negotiation, rehearsal and presentation. In front of an audience. Actions that often scare us. It requires knowing when and how to take initiative and when and how to relinquish control and initiative to someone else. It requires trust in the team, the renunciation of "I" and the empowerment of "we". Theater is a team "sport" and only if the whole team rests on its feet, something truly powerful can emerge.

  • Concentration:By playing demanding games, rehearsing, and then presenting our work, we develop sustained ability to focus body, mind, and voice. And the ability to be able to do all of this at the same time.

  • Contact:Theater enhances the verbal and non-verbal expression of ideas. With a body more comfortable in the space and with movement and breathing more free the messages pass and are expressed by the body effortlessly. Voice projection, articulation, flow and persuasiveness are improved. Through the exercises we learn to listen and observe what actually happens, what we actually say, and not what we think, fear, hope is said. We learn to observe and "read" the body and what is "hidden" behind the words.

  • Flexibility & Fitness:Being aware of our body helps in better posture, reducing muscle tension. Unnecessary holds are reduced, balance, coordination, and flexibility are improved. Thus, the body moves more relaxed. Through improvisation we learn to think and find solutions quickly, this leads to greater flexibility and adaptability in our lives.

  • Pleasure but also Confidence:Defensive behaviors, reticence, criticism, and prejudices are reduced. When with courage, in a "safe" environment, we take risks, we open up, we let others "see" us, we "play" behaviors and emotions that we usually don't dare, and we "connect" with others, and confidence in our abilities increases . Theater brings pleasure, laughter and promotes a free spirit of play. It promotes meaningful human contact. It relieves stress and anxiety.

  • Relaxation and Self-Discipline:The process of turning ideas into action and supporting them requires practice, discipline and persistence. Through movement and breathing exercises, activation of the imagination, physical activation, harmonious movement, but also the game itself is achieved. This is a simple way to release tension!

  • Aesthetics:Through dealing with the theater and the human function, the appreciation of this art definitely increases.
